The Panamericana

The Panamericana, or PanAm, connects Prudhoe Bay (Alaska) to Ushuaia (Argentina), stopping only at the mysterious Darien Gap, a thin strip of land that connects Central and South America.

A road that is not an official road but a crossroads of cultures, traditions and ecosystems: from forests to jungles, from deserts to mountains, from beaches to prairies.

It has been the scene of political and economic battles between the Americas, but despite its fame, there is still limited information about the Pan-American Highway and, to date, no comprehensive narrative of the natural world that surrounds it and the people who struggle to preserve it.
